Maundy Thursday

April 21, 2011

It's a our family thing to participate on the event of the 14 stations of the cross every year during Holy week on the day of Maundy Thursday. The tradition is to be visiting 14 different churches and praying one station each but last year; we decided to start doing 7 churches and 2 stations each, instead.

First stop was the Binondo Church somewhere around Chinatown, Manila. (Manila was where we spent the day)

2.) Sta. Cruz Church

3.) Cathedral Church

4.) San Agustine Church
My parents got married here :)

This is kuya Chicago (I didn't get his name but his shirt says Chicago) he told me to add him up on Facebook and upload his picture there. I laughed and told him he's going straight to my blog so he should give a big smile. (thanks for the smile and the squidballs-if you ever do read this-kuya Chicago)

I love squid balls!!
These are certainly not my drinks. Quick fact about me: I don't drink soda

My mom and Ralph getting an ice cream sandwich (The ice cream is seriously in a sandwich bun)
The car was parked somewhere a bit far from the two churches (Cathedral and San Agustine church) but not too far to walk back and fourth to. We had to walk a bit through a street with a whole lot of food stands and beggars. I was also totally used to it coming back to the same churches and streets every year. We had a quick snack after both churches. I-for one-love street food. My favorite would probably be Squid balls.

5.)  Nuestra Señora De guia

 6.)  Malate Church
After two stations at the church, we attended the mass which seemed like it took more than an hour since we had to stand up the whole time, although, it was alright; i mean that's what this season's for right?-Sacrifice.

We also got to witness the washing of the feet. Volunteers were going around selecting people (probably those with easy-slip-on-foot-wear) to wash their feet like Jesus did with his disciples. It was seen that during Jesus' time that those who wash ones feet-after a dirty walk-were the lowly slaves. Jesus showed an example of equality to his disciples and asked them to do the same.

"If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them." John 13:14-17

I thus prove that i do listen during CL (Christian Life) Class.

 7.)   Sta Maria Goretti parish

We had dinner at a Chinese restaurant and got my favorite noodles-Hofan (the noodles above)-it made me miss Hong Kong alot. The noodles and the rice weren't the only things we ate, i just wanted to share my two favorite Chinese meals, right now.

Meet Izsha, she's my neice. We dropped off my uncle (who was with us today) at his house in Caloocan and i remembered my cousins lived nearby so i told dad we should stop by their place since i missed my cousins and my favorite bebe girl alot. Ain't she just an angel :)

I apologize for the sucky picture quality; I didn't have Charz (my camera) with me and i was stuck with my brother's iPhone camera. Oh and yes, i finally named my camera; it was my birthday gift to him since it was his 1st birthday the other day.
